This garden painting was exhibited in Paris in 1995 and references a poem written by the artist, entitled "The Garden Party". At dusk, the crystal chandelier in the bedroom is reflected in the glass door which leads out to the garden. The lilies near the trompe l'oeil wall (faux brick with arches and urns). Note that the lilies and stars become interchangeable and two of the chandelier bulbs have been transformed into stars. The serpentine movement from foreground to distance is established by the boxwood lined path of square stones, and the placement of the Chippendale chairs near the urn in the center of the garden imply a convivial trio of individuals enjoying the finer things of life.
