The reason for this title is the paintings see-it-all-at-once placement of left and right bank landmarks all on one side of the Seine. They are, left to right: Notre Dame, The Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Ste. Chapelle, the Pantheon, Hotel de Ville, St. Etienne du Mont. The artist and his wife pose as two famous Chippendale chairs looking over a balustrade (with an urn borrowed from the Luxembourg gardens). The pastel overlay gives an electric incandescence to the scene. Note the carousel found near the Eiffel Tower (on either side of the Seine en realité).
