The "Queen Anne" chairs, originally belonging to Charlie, look out from the studio to the garden. Under one of the 6 palms in the garden, two iron chairs seem to return their gaze. These belonged to our good friend Patrice. The deep pink blossoms are crape myrtle trees, which establishes this as a summer scene. The brick terrace "invades the studio". The "nervous line" recalls the artist's study of individual manuscript illuminations such as the 9th century Ebbo Gospels.
