Every once in a while, whatever theme the artist is working on goes through a classicizing or mythologizing process. Against orange and green, an anthropomorphic moon gazes on 3 grand pianos in the garden. Two satyrs play, while a nymph leans on the urn and listens. Arches, ionic columns, and 3 chandeliers combine in this playful mélange. One visitor to the studio went so far as to suggest one of the satyrs was in fact the artist, who does play the piano and the organ in the studio. |
