The text for this biblical painting is Jesus' question, "will ye not watch with me one hour?" The ground is deep greens and blues with a white veil of vertical brushstrokes. On the left is a temple with a gold dome and pink spires resembling obelisks. Judas, in yellow (with a lantern) leads two priests in purple and 3 Roman soldiers to a gate. In the garden, on the right, Jesus stands in front of a Romanesque structure amidst olive trees. The eleven disciples sit and recline around him. |
