Framed by two leafless trees, the Stilton's antique bed has moved out of the bedroom into the garden. The crystal chandelier hangs above the bed - the yellow of the electric bulbs is reflected in the bed pillows. To the left of the bed daffodils indicate springtime. To the right of the urn, a grand piano straddles the formal plantings, and stars indicate night. The technique recalls the pastel work so pronounced in the large paper pieces exhibited in Paris.
