The four horses have escaped from their 'perch' over the central portal of the cathedral, and prance in the square. Two distinctively Venetian lampposts and the campanile solidify the allusion to Venice, while the watery jewel-like strokes dematerialize the painting. Gold iridescent paint highlights the buildings, lamps, square and horses. |
