An exotic palette of yellow, blue and orange make this painting as active as a volcano. The red chairs are actually modeled on the Stilton's black lacquer and gilt chairs. The street lights refer to Venice - as do the drying towels. But the sky made the artist think of Mt. Vesuvius.
