The intimate elegance of chamber music is expressed by these “painterly” instruments, lit by two crystal chandeliers. The under-painting (ground) contains gold leaf squares over-painted with deep warm grays, blues, and yellows. One collector once said, “Stilton paintings play big.” This really does, and it has a dramatic impact that makes one think of European baroque art, even though it is thoroughly contemporary. |
