"One of my favorite geometric paintings from 2004 is this structurally simple but opulently-complex-in-color “Four Seasons”. Each square has incredible movement in and out of the “picture plane”. For years I taught Josef Alber’s color theory, but I like the way this painting extols the geometric order, and then romanticizes it. When deliberating on a title, I felt the blue and grey squares were wintry; the green, aspects of spring; the yellow, the heat of summer; and the red and orange, autumn".
